About Conflict Minerals

Conflict minerals refer to such minerals as tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold that are extracted in a conflict zone in the Democratic Republic of Congo and its neighboring countries.

The funds generated from the selling of such minerals flow to the hands of militants in the region, who kill the people of their own countries and infringe upon the human rights of children with forced labor in the mining of such minerals, and women.

With the global concern over the issue continuing to rise, the U.S. Congress promulgated an act requiring reporting on the use of conflict minerals (Dodd-Frank Act) in 2010, and in accordance with Section of the Act, the companied listed on the stock exchanges in the U.S. are required to report the use of conflict minerals and their origins, and conduct on-site inspections on the supply chain before submitting the result to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

IKP Conflict Minerals Management Policy

The IKP has established a conflict mineral management initiative to fulfill its legal and social responsibilities.
To prevent conflict minerals associated with armed forces in conflict areas from being included in the supply chain for their products, suppliers are required to investigate the use of conflict minerals, including establishing conflict mineral policies and procedures, and to develop a risk response plan, to help suppliers purchase them through smelters free of conflict minerals. Together with our partners and clients, we will actively participate in international efforts to ban the use of conflict minerals, thereby fulfilling our social responsibility to protect human rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries.
